Michael Todd Splits with Band Shortly after his Arrest for Robbery with a Deadly Weapon

Coheed and Cambria bassist Michael Todd has split with the band just weeks after his arrest for Robbery with a Deadly Weapon. Both Todd and the band claim that the split is mutual. Todd was arrested right before a show in Massachusetts last month. Todd allegedly went into a Walgreens Pharmacy and demanded Oxycontin from the pharmacist. Todd told the pharmacist he had a bomb, and made off with six (6) bottles of the prescription pain killer.

Oxycontin is a brand name for a time-released pill containing the drug Oxycodone. Oxycodone is an opium based drug, which is similar to Morphine and Codine. Oxycodone is frequently compounded into a single tablet with other non-prescription medications such as Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen to assist patients in pain management. Oxycodone is an effective pain management tool for those with moderate to severe pain due to acute or chronic conditions. However, it is also highly addictive and abruptly stopping Oxycodone can lead to severe withdrawal, which can then lead people to commit acts that appear completely out of character.

In Nevada, Robbery with a Deadly Weapon is considered a violent crime and is extremely serious offense. A conviction for Robbery with a Deadly Weapon results in mandatory prison, and the term can be up to thirty (30) years. NRS 200.380 defines Robbery in Nevada and states:

"Robbery is the unlawful taking of personal property from the person of another, or in the person's presence, against his or her will, by means of force or violence or fear of injury, immediate or future, to his or her person or property, or the person or property of a member of his or her family, or of anyone in his or her company at the time of the robbery. A taking is by means of force or fear if force or fear is used to: (a) Obtain or retain possession of the property; (b) Prevent or overcome resistance to the taking; or (c) Facilitate escape."
