Former Nickelodeon Star Racks Up Three Vehicular Offenses in Six Months

Troubled child star Amanda Bynes was involved in her third vehicular crime in six months. The most recent incident occurred in the San Fernando Valley. Bynum was driving a rental car because, ironically, her BMW was being repaired at an auto body shop. The twenty-six year old actress was also arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) in April of this year, after she side-swiped a police car. This came on the heels of an incident in March, where she allegedly darted away from a police officer at a traffic stop as he was writing her a ticket for driving while operating a cell phone.

Bynes has been accused of three vehicular crimes in just six months. In two cases, she was charged with leaving the scene of an accident. In the third instance, she was charged with DUI and leaving the scene. Vehicular crimes are nothing new to Hollywood. Among the list of stars who have allegedly killed people as a result of a traffic collision and/or reckless driving: Former First Lady Laura Bush, Matthew Broderick, Brandy, Ted Kennedy, Rebecca Gayheart, and Vince Neil, just to name a few.

A DUI offense or Leaving the Scene of an Accident charge can be a life-altering event. If someone is injured as the result of a DUI or Leaving the Scene case, the driver could face substantial prison time. In the case of a DUI causing substantial bodily injury or death, the offense is non-probationable. Non-probationable means that, if you are convicted of the charge, the judge must sentence you to prison and is not allowed to place you on probation.
