Singer Chris Brown Could Have Probation Revoked After Being Charged With Felony Assault

Early Sunday morning, reports say, singer Chris Brown assaulted a man in Washington D.C. following a homecoming performance for Howard University. Witnesses say that the victim attempted to insert himself into a photograph Brown was taking with female fans when Brown allegedly used a homophobic slur and punched the man in his face. The assault sent the man to the hospital and reports indicate that his nose is broken.

Brown and his bodyguard were arrested on felony assault charges and should be in front of a judge this morning. Brown may face up to four years in jail and may find that the terms of his probation have been violated as to the, now infamous, 2009 attack on singer Rihanna. The assault victim has retained an attorney and intends to press charges amidst allegations from Brown's entourage that the man was attempting to trespass onto the tour bus at the time of the alleged assault.

Assault charges in Nevada could net someone up to six years in prison and a fine of $5,000.00. If you, or someone you know, has been charged with assault it is important to have experienced legal counsel on your side to help you fight for your rights. The former prosecutors at Brown Law Offices understand the various defenses available and can help you develop a strategy to address the charges in your case.

Likewise, probation violations are serious and can put your freedom at significant risk. A probation violation does not have to be as blatant as a subsequent assault and can result from something as simple as failure to pay a court fine on time. If you face a probation violation a hearing will be conducted to determine if you will be revoked. Having counsel during such a hearing can be critical to the outcome of your case.
