NBA Star Arrested for Urinating in Public

NBA Star Nate Robinson was arrested last week after police saw him urinating on a public sidewalk across from City Hall in White Plains, NY. Robinson subsequently was released on $100.00 bail. He is scheduled to return to court in next week. Urinating in Public seems like a laughable offense, and a relative common (if unfortunate) consequence of a long night out on the town. But, in Las Vegas, a conviction for public urination can land someone on a sex offender registry.

Under Nevada law, every sex offender must register with law enforcement. NRS 179D.441. A "Sex Offender" is defined as a person who has committed a sexual offense. NRS 179D.097 defines "Sexual Offense" to include Sexual Assault, Statutory Sexual Seduction, Child Sexual Abuse, Open and Gross Lewdness and Indecent Exposure. NRS 201.220 defines Indecent Exposure as: "Any person who makes any open and indecent or obscene exposure of his or her person , or of the person of another . . ." In many cases, urinating in public can result in a charge of Indecent Exposure.
