Onyango Obama, an uncle of President Barack Obama, has been released from custody following his August arrest for Driving under the Influence (DUI/DWI). Onyango Obama was arrested August 24, 2011, after a police officer observed him fail to stop at an intersection. Reports indicate that Onyango Obama had red, glassy eyes, slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet. The officer had Onyango Obama perform several field sobriety tests, which he failed. Onyango Obama was subsequently arrested on DUI charges. Following his arrest, it was determined that Onyango Obama may not in the country legally and may have previously been deported. He was taken into I.C.E. custody, but was released from I.C.E. custody this week. He is required to check in with immigration authorities regularly as a condition of his release.
Driving under the Influence (DUI) is a serious offense that can happen to anyone. NRS 484C.110(2) and 484C110(3).
