According to NRS 200.380, robbery is the unlawful taking of another person's property off their person or in their presence without their permission by threat or use of force or injury against the victim, their family, or another person present at the time of the robbery. This theft crime is not to be confused with retail theft in a store, or with burglary that involves unlawful entry or theft when no one is present.

Robbery is a class B felony under Nevada state law. As such, it is punishable by a prison sentence of 2-15 years.
